download drivers using firefox get C;\users\appdata\local\temp\lj1018-hb-pnp-win64-en-15.exe could not be opened because an unknown error occurred. Try saving to disk first then open file. There is no option in the dialog to allow me to save to disk. This works fine when using IE.

Seems to be an HP Laser Jet driver: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=bi-58529-3

I didn't have problem downloading it (see screenshot).

If that's the file you want, could you try that link instead?

If necessary, start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode in case an add-on is interfering with the download.

This does not solve the issue. I tried safe mode with addon disabled and still get the same message. Your screen shot is not like what i get. I get the download dialog without save to disk option

You have Firefox configured to save files to a permanent folder probably. You can change it in Tools | Options | General. Checkmark "Always ask me where to save files". There's a picture of it in this article: General options

Could you also go to Tools | Add-ons | Plugins and disable the WildTangent plugin. it may not necessarily be the cause of the problem, but it's not helpful either. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WildTangent#Criticism

Hi again. Tried all the changes you suggested and still no success. I am going to try abnd replace firefox and see if that improves things. Oh how I wish I had not bought a new machine with Win 7

Do you have any security software installed which scans links? Examples are AVG Linkscanner, AVG Safe Search, McAfee Secure Scan, BitDefender Anti-Phishing.

If so, go to Tools | Add-ons | Extensions and disable them.

Hi. This looks similar to another posting, see https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/885109 I cannot be sure if it is exactly the same as the original post here, but it has some more details and may match some people's issue.

Alternatively try this http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_save_or_download_files
