I am extremely disappointed with Firefox. I recently updated to the latest version and since then pages load extremely slowly, and the whole browser becomes unresponsive at least three times a day. I have to close it and when I reopen it, it won't restore my tabs; sometimes I close and try to reopen it and get a window saying Firefox is already running, and the only way I can get it working again is to restart my whole computer. So I have to sit and wait for it to reboot, and this is very, very aggravating. I have cleared my cache several times (when it will clear--sometimes it won't and I have to try three or four times) but that doesn't help.

Hi,

Please also check if this happens in Safe Mode.

Problematic Extensions

Troubleshooting Extensions and Themes

Uninstalling Add-ons

Uninstalling Toolbars

Safe mode disables the installed Extensions, and themes (Appearance) in Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons. Hardware acceleration is also temporarily disabled - the manual setting is Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Use hardware acceleration when available. Options > Advanced. All these settings/add-ons can also be individually or collectively disabled/enabled/changed in Firefox normal mode to check if an extension, theme or hardware acceleration is causing issues.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
