How to use IE bookmarks?
Hi, I have earlier used Internet Explorer but have started to use Firefox more and more. I have about 6000 favorites in the favorite folder and I will not move them around. Instead, I would like to collect both IE’s favorites and Firefox’s bookmarks into one common folder. Is it possible to collect Firefox bookmarks into the IE’s favorite folder and also reach the bookmarks from there? If OK, how do I set Firefox to obtain that feature? Kind regards Bo

IE favourites are stored as .HTML files.
Firefox uses a totaly different system, the working database includes bookmarks and History and is in a file called places.sqlite that resides in the Firefox Profile and can not be moved from the profile. (The profile itself may be moved, but that is probably not what you want).
Firefox is able to export its bookmarks as HTML files, you could do that and edit them into other HTML files. If you use HTML files you do not gain the advantages of the Firefox Bookmarks library
- tagged bookmarks,and keywords
- smart folders, nested folders
- edditing bookmarks
- sorting and rearanging,
- use of sidebar and bookmarks toolbar
You may also look at the problem another way, import the 6000 IE favourites into Firefox, that appends them to the library of bookmarks and you may use the whole lot in Firefox, and if required then re-export as HTML to be used in IE.
CARE note restoring by importing Firefox .JSON backups of bookmarks overwrites the existing set. It is wise to always create manual backups before restoring bookmarks, so that you may return to the previous set if required.
