I am using a Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) running on MacOS 10.8.2 Normally my shutdown takes about 3 seconds but recently realized that the shutdown takes about 20 seconds. When I uninstalled Firefox, everything returns to normal.

Before you shut down the computer, you should exit any applications that are running. Forcing Firefox to shut down by shutting down the operating system is not advisable.

Perhaps I did not describe my problem properly. I close all my apps (in this case Firefox) before shutting down my mac. But the problem persists until I remove Firefox.
