I have installed the Duck Duck Go Light and Duck Duck Go SSL Add-on and have also disabled Google integrated Add-on. Still, when I type in an item to search and hit the return/enter button on the keypad I still get sent to Google search page rather than a Duck Duck Go search which is what I was looking for. Is there anyway to ensure that my searches default to the requested search engine from the keyboard rather than having to click the drop down option that pops up?

If you are searching in the location bar, you can change the default search engine by:

  1. Typing in about:config.
  2. Clicking the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button in the warning that appears.
  3. Typing "browser.search.defaultenginename" into the search box at the top of the page.
  4. Double-clicking the shown preference, and changing the value to "DuckDuckGo."
