Rename or delete these two files - key3.db and signons.sqlite - from the profile folder, restart TB, and see if you can now enter your new password.

Help/Troubleshooting Information, click Show Folder to open the profile folder, exit TB, rename or delete the files, restart TB.

It might be worth accessing the account once via webmail just to confirm that the new password is working.

Go to Tools-Options-Security-Passwords-Saved Passwords

Remove the password for the account that you are working with. It might be there twice. Remove both.

Close and restart Thunderbird. The next time it needs a password it will ask for one.

No Menu bar with Tools showing? Press the alt key to make it appear.
