How do I downgrade to the previous version? This version (29.0.1) is dreadful!
I would like to downgrade to the previous version which was simpler and more intuitive. The bookmarks system is terrible (like the expanding programs menu in Windows 95 when the start button is pressed) It's possible to pin the window to the side bar but when you click on "history", it floats back up again and has to be re-pinned. Also I had nice big toolbar buttons with text. It doesn't seem to be possible to have these in this version. The backwards and forwards toolbuttons have gone, and a create bookmark button is stuck to the bookmarks button. It doesn't seem to be possible either to move tabs below the menu.

Mozilla.org maintains a publicly accessible archive of all past versions of Firefox. The link to it is located in the middle of the following page:

There is also a quick link to version 28.0 for US English.

Hi,
It seems many are not happy with the changes in version 29 of firefox as was I. As far as I know firefox does not keep downloadable archives of past versions on their site. This means that in order to revert to an earlier version you need to first: uninstall firefox 29.0(.1) then find an earlier version via search.
The last version was 28.0 final and can be found by google search. When reverting my firefox client I downloaded version 28 from the major geeks site.
Hope this helps, SpecTRe X
Thanks for the info! I initially tried system restore to get my system back to a pre-update state. Unfortunately when I tried to run Firefox I got a "couldn't load Xpcom" error. Presumably v29.0.1's Xpcom was left in place after the system restore. The Firefox uninstall wouldn't run from control panel (clicking uninstall produced no response). So I just installed v 28.0 over the existing installation and it seems to work fine, although the toolbar buttons have gone back to default locations.

Be wary of what sites you download from as they may advertise Firefox 28 and package it as a Beta, RC, or other pre-release version and may have malware/adware or other unwanted items.

Looks like this thread is wrapped up. Marking SpecTRe_X's answer as the solution. Please create a new question at /questions/new instead of posting here
