When I use Firefox 4.x or 5.x and open multiple windows, I get an error message windor that thell me the frequency is out of range, and my system freezes and has to be rebooted. If I uninstall 4.x or (presumably) 5.x and reinstall 3.8, all is fine again.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
