My history has been disappearing month after month since about 8 months ago. Only Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, This month and (as of now) April (and other times it's been the month before) are showing. I have NO cleaning software, NO settings set to delete history, NOTHING. It had NEVER done this before, and my history is very useful and it makes me panic that I'm mysteriously losing it. Out of panic, I backed up my places.sqlite file 1 month ago when March was as far back as it went, and sure enough, as it turned to May, the March category completely disappeared and was replaced by April. This is annoying me beyond belief. I have lost ALL of my history from February 2013 all the way to March 2014.

What could be causing this (can't be settings or cleaner software) and how I can I stop it quick?

I can't think of a reason other than cleanup or security software causing this as there hasn't been a change in Firefox and it is still the maximum number of visits that limit the total history as you can see in the read-only pref places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages on the about:config page.

If it happens punctually each month then this is even more likely that there is some scheduled task running.
