After Firefox updated to 30.0, the Advanced tab of the Flashplayer Manager UI in Control Panel displays the Update section greyed out, and there is a reference to a "Pepper" version that is not installed. As I have the settings set to 'Never check for updates' so that I could check manually, the "Check Now" button is greyed out. I can't check for updates now. I had also performed a Windows Update from Microsoft, which updated the Flashplayer active X for the MSIE. I don't know if this outcome is as a result of that update. The version number, greyed out, currently installed is the same version as before this development, 13.0.0.214. I now see that there is a new version available from the Adobe website, version 14.0.0.125, for the Firefox. Should I risk trying to install this update through the Adobe website under the circumstances?

I downloaded and installed the Flashplayer version 14.0.0.125 for the Firefox from the Adobe website without a hitch, but although the Flashplayer Manager UI from the Control Panel displays that version number now, there is still the matter of its 'Update' section being greyed out, to include the 'Check Now' button. Is that how it should be? If so, why?

This usually happens if you do not have write permission to the location where the Flash player is installed.
