I am a dedicated Firefox user for ~10 years now. The current new issue is: I can no longer watch the Stephen Colbert show for some reason. I've always used Firefox to watch this show. Now I only get audio not visual. I had to go to IE and it works perfectly. I'm only using his show as an example which may perhaps help in your inquiry. I was curious if it is specific to Firefox and it is. IE displayed video and audio. Advice?

You can try to disable the HTML5 media player by setting these prefs to false on the about:config page.

  • media.directshow.enabled
  • media.windows-media-foundation.enabled

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and you can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Hi VAA, Please check out your [about:addons] page. There are a few duplicated extensions of video players you have. For example:

  • Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 11.0.07
  • Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 10.1.10

Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and The plugin check tool are good help articles for video player issues.

Please also troubleshoot further with the help of this article: Fix common audio and video issues

That way Stephen Colbert will be visible once more!
