I have tried reinstalling firefox but the same issue, also I have scanned my computer which is running windows 7 with anti virus but same issue......

can you give more details. what happens when it crashes ? is there a popup telling that firefox is not responding ?

Can you try to start Firefox in Safe Mode to see if Firefox works properly with no error? You can start Firefox in Safe Mode below: Windows/Mac: Go to Help > Restart with add-ons disabled Linux: Run Firefox -safe-mode in the Terminal/Konsole

Hi! When I go t tools and click on options to change proxy settings it hangs and , yes, there is a popup saying that firfox is not responding.

I have also tried opening it in safe mode or running with add-ons disabled but no luck..

Have you tried updating your Flash player? You're on an extremely outdated version.

I also see that you're running Firefox 25.0. That's an old version as well. That was released last year in October. Is there a specific reason you're still on that version? It might help to keep yourself updated on the current version (31.0) Please try updating your Firefox and Flash player to the current versions. You can find the latest Flash Player and Firefox below:


If you still experience this issue after updating Firefox and Flash, try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox. Firefox has hardware acceleration set to "on" by default, but it's still young, which means some video cards or drivers might have problems with it. You can try to disable hardware acceleration to see if that alleviates your problems.

You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps for Firefox version 29.0 and above:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options for Windows or Preferences on Mac or Linux. For Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
  • In the Firefox options window, click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
  • In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  • Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
