Thunderbird and Profile dilemma
I don't mean to make this a long story but needed to explain what happened and what I'm wanting to do.
Last week, after allowing AT&T take remote access to my PC concerning a new system I was putting in, I left my PC to get a drink. Big mistake. I told the rep I needed to get off the phone because it was late. I went to my PC and discovered AT&T somehow had demolished my Thunderbird. It was totally gone and wanted me to set up an account. All my emails were gone which was horrible because I'm on a HO board and needed my emails and folders.
About a week ago I had backed up FF and TB using Moz Backup which was a program I've used for years with great success. So, I restored a backup from a week ago and I was able to retrieve a lot of my stuff. I had to reconstruct a few things but it was a lot better than nothing.
But I've repeatably tried to backup TB using Moz Backup and the backup keeps failing. I'm wondering if it's reading the profile from a week ago.
I pretty well satisfied with what I have now but wondered if I create a NEW profile could I transfer all of my mail folders and their contents to a new profile and hopefully Moz Backup would then back up the new profile.
I hope I haven't confused anyone here because I'm certainly confused.

You can back up manually by copying your profile to another location. That is how I do my backup. You can locate the profile from Help menu > Troubleshooting Information.
So, are you saying I do not need to create a new profile? Don't mean to be difficult but I wanted to continue to use Mozbackup if at all possible.
You said that MozBack did not work for you any more. You can back up the profile manually. That is what MozBack does - it backs up the profile. You can transfer files from the backup to a new profile manually as well, and you can back up the new profile manually.
Where can I get detailed instructions on moving a profile without really messing things up?
I was trying to find info on creating a new profile but haven't gotten very far.
If you have a couple of links with this info, I would appreciate it.
Thanks.
Not moving - copying. That is important. You need to make a copy, not move the profile. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Files_and_folders_in_the_profile_-_Thunderbird http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Thunderbird http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup
