Is this because you no longer see the colour changer tool?

Or is it there but not working?

Hi Zenos,

thanks for responding so quickly.

What I mean is I still do see the "Change Color Icon" on the work bar. - the 2 square little blocs -. When I click on either of them the "colorpanel" to chose a color from appears like it should. But after selecting a color and clicking on "OK" nothing happens with the selected text nor with background of the email

I have re installed a much older version of Thunderbird. The problem remained the same........? I deleted this older version and re installed the latest TB version 31.3.0. . The problem is there again....?

Made me think that perhaps the origin of this problem might not be Thunderbird but another program or malware. I ran my anti virus and Malwarebites: nothing abnormal was detected...........?

Note. at almost the same time my Firefox 34.0.5 browser also developped a problem. It does not load my chosen Startpage (Google.com) anymore but loads Google.es ( es = Spain/Europe, where I live)
