I've used Thunderbird for my multiple email accounts for several years with no problem. On 1/5/15, my GoDaddy ISP email account quit working. I got an error message saying the password was incorrect. I hadn't made any changes to it. I tried re-entering the correct password, then checked all my incoming and outgoing server settings. All were correct. Deleted and reinstalled the email account. Same result. To my knowledge all server settings and passwords are correct. Only GoDaddy ISP doesn't work. Gmail accounts work fine. My GoDaddy ISP webmail works fine. I just can't get Thunderbird to work with it. Until 1/5/15, it had worked fine.

have you tried with email scanning turned off in your anti virus program?

I'd overlooked the disable anti-virus program (MS Sec Essentials) step. I've now tried that with no change in result. I strongly suspect a possible Thunderbird/Mozilla update issue as there have not been any other MS Windows update within the last 7 days on my machine. This problem is affecting my Windows Vista and Windows 7 machines.

multiple machines. single point on all of them would be the router or modem, any new hardware in the mix, or a fix for something from your ISP?

Try safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX

I have recently seen issues caused by bank security software and tokens from the US military. Safe mode basically disable all of that sort of stuff so a clean connection can be attempted.
