Suddenly Thunderbird won't sync any account, setups okay
I have similar Thunderbird 31.4 setups on two Macs; one suddenly stopped working on all 5 accounts (all IMAP). Symptoms:
• There are no crashes or error messages;
• Activity Manager window is blank; and
• The Error Console shows no errors (but some messages); and
• A small blue circle in the window's inbox tab spins perpetually on one account (see screen shot), but clears when switching to others;
• The pointer has a spinning blue ball below it; and
• The status bar occasionally says "Connected to xxx.com" or "Gmail is up to date," but that is not true—no account is up to date.
The following do NOT help:
• Restarting with add-ons disabled;
• Rebuilding global-messages-db.sqlite;
• Trashing the Thunderbird files in ~/Library/Caches;
• Trashing and reinstalling the Thunderbird application.
Meanwhile, Apple Mail on the same computer, and Thunderbird on the other computer, both operate normally. Any insight?! What else can I try? Cheers, -- Gib Henry

have you checked the firewall? If you have anti virus software installed, check that as well.
Interesting, but I have not touched the firewall, nor do I have antivirus software installed, and I imagine either of those possible causes would have affected Apple Mail as well.
I suspect one of the numerous files in my Thunderbird Profile folder has been damaged, but if that's it, I have no idea how to isolate the culprit, or how to fix it.

Ah, there is something important I neglected to mention: I upgraded to Thunderbird from Eudora OSE! Maybe there's something left over from that version, such as the Extras? Where would I look for them?
