I selected fixed width font courier new, created a message like this:

Intensity lambda-c R Red Green Blue Relative Error

but when it was sent (as seen in my sent folder and the recievers in box) it looked like this:

Intensity lambda-c R Red Green Blue Relative Error

Notice that spaces disappeared between Red and Green (they are spaces not a tab)

the mail header included Content-Type text/plain

and word wrap is usually set to 72 characters, but if the windows your working in forces earlier wrapping the wrapping will not be the same in the sent items as it used the full screen.

it isn't a word wrap problem. It is a spacing problem. It was supposed to look like this: Foo Bar but spaces disappeard and it looked like this: Foo Bar

This text box I'm currently typing into does not respect carriage returns, which is maybe confusing things. The problem I'm experiencing is that I set up fixed width fonts, text mode only, and type a message with a certain spacing, and that spacing changes when the message is delivered. Spaces are lost from what I typed, and viewed before sending. So I might have typed in 9 spaces but the delivered message only has one.
