how do I set a new password to enable me to send mail?
Mail a/c was set up when I was with pipex and I cannot remember password used then so I am unable to use Mozilla to send mail.

Thunderbird has nothing to do with administering your email password. You have to work with your email provider to reset a forgotten password. Go to your providers email help page and look for a link to reset your password.
