For example, trying to enter Don't changes to T Don', another would be Isn't will become T Isn'. In either case, the letter after the apostrophe is moved to the start of the sentence and capitalized with a space after it. The rest of the word and the apostrophe stay the same.

Hmm, mmsAutoCorrect?

Does it do this in Safe Mode?

I can't reproduce that; I get:

Don't. Isn't.

(Copy-and-pasted from Thunderbird.)

What add-ons do you have?

Help|Troubleshooting Information, clear "include account names", click "copy text to clipboard", paste into your reply. Check it over for anything you don't want or need to share (we don't need to know about printers or fonts, for instance.)

I have the extensions Lightning 3.3.3 and mmsAutoCorrect 1.0.3 installed for Thunderbird. I might also mention I am using it to handle my Gmail accounts.

Quick note, I was mistaken about the space inserted, just my typing. Isn't would become tisn'

Safe mode did not have the issue. Disabled mmsAutoCorrect and also did not have the problem.

So that extension appears to be the problem. Will look for another for spell check. Thanks for the assist, should have thought to disable and check myself. I consider this solved.

I'm surprised because I've used that add-on myself and have not had that particular issue with it. I gave up on it for other reasons; it was near impossible to use terms such as i.e. without it capitalizing, since as far as it was concerned, a period could only mean the end of a sentence, and it seemed impossible to teach it that I really wanted i.e. unmolested. File names such as profiles.ini present similar challenges.

I'm having similar issues on the Android device I'm using right now, but as you see, it can be done with some persistence on my part.
