access to hotmail account suddenly ceased
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate with the latest version of Firefox 37. I have set my homepage to www.hotmail.com in Firefox Options and it has worked fine for many years. Suddenly this week I just cannot access Hotmail at all. The page just hangs in the address bar, there are no error messages but nothing happens. I can get into any other site but can find no way of accessing my Hotmail account. Can anyone advise please, all advice much appreciated. I have spoken to Microsoft but they just say that they do not support Firefox and suggest I use the latest version of IE. I have used Firefox for years and would like to stick with it.

Hi cor-el Many thanks for your support. Everything OK now. I followed your instructions carefully. Having cleared Cache & Cookies I started Firefox in Safe Mode and was the able to get into my Hotmail account. To solve the problem permanently I clicked on Refresh Firefox in Safe Mode and all is now well.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Suddenly I am unable to login to my Hotmail account, keeps getting this message, reflected below. Secure Connection Failed
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.
My Firefox version is 38.0.1
I have also clear all Cache & Cookies still faced the same error message. Please help to advise how to resolve this? I can login my Hotmail using IE but not Firefox.
