When addressing an email I start typing the address and then get suggestions (from address list) of which I will pick one by cursoring to it and pressing ENTER. The address is selected and the focus moves to the next "To:" line (which is blank). Often, the address list (GAL) will again be presented without me typing anything. If I move the focus elsewhere (via mouse click) the first name in the list will be automatically entered in the To: field. This is never what I want and results in the poor soul at the beginning of the address list getting copied on my emails if I fail to notice that Thunderbird has done this. I have v31.6.0, but I think I also had the same issue in 24.x. Thunderbird should not fill in a name in a blank address line if I have not selected a name from the list. Is there a way to stop this behavior?

I can't reproduce what you experienced.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode):

On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.

I tried the "Restart with Add-ons Disabled" and got different behavior so it must be an add-on. I will try to figure that out. Thanks!

Do you have the mail merge add-on? It causes a similar issue for me
