i have reset all the TB settings and started over. I inserted my accounts and all is working great except for the junk settings. since I reset TB I now train it to correctly identify junk mails as they come. but I have a problem, once I mark as "not junk" a message, after exiting and opening TB again the same message will have the flame icon active. this means that it won't remember that I marked that particular message as not junk.

I have tried several solutions I found about the junk training settings and how to rese them either via settings or deleting the training.dat file. any suggestions?

Generally see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Junk_Mail_Controls

Note especially information about "trust junk headers set by" this is in your account settings in the Junk panel..

i have already checked this page and it won't help me.

but why Tb will mark again the same message as spam when I specifically marked it otherwise, this happens after I exit and open again the program.

Do you understand that IMAP mail is synchronized to the mail server? That mail marked as junk on your phone will synchronize to Thunderbird as such. The problem your trying to fix is almost certainly on a phone, tablet or on the mail server it self. So when Thunderbird reconnects it gets the message that the message is junk and marks it as such.

but I had my account set as imap from the start (a couple years now) and this started only a few weeks before.

I don't use any other device but my pc, so I guess it's something with the server?

Most probably. Try turning off the server spam controls. Or if your anti virus has them. Turn those off as well.
