I recently re-installed win 7 OS on my computer and my emails have been slow to send lately,I noticed that it is sending two copies in the sent folder? Also a folder called POP has appeared on the side panel since Ive done the re-install? I deleted it but it came back and loads files or something? Ive been watching it, it went up to 11700 and stopped. I deleted Thunderbird and re-installed it but it hasn't made any difference? Ive been trying without luck to find this report I found to send you,it says something about error 693? It said something about chrome cant do something or other but I don't use chrome just Firefox with the google thingo. I hope you can get what I'm trying to say here and you have enough to go on.?

You used to have a pop mail account is my guess and now it is created an an IMAP out. I am also guessing it is a Hotmail/MSN/Outlook.com account.

Hotmail moved mail deleted by mail clients like Thunderbird using the pop protocol to a folder in Deleted called pop. It also saves a copy of every mail you send to the sent folder. Thunderbird does this as well. So you get two copies.

What the POP folder would have contained was a copy of the 11,700 mails that have previously been download.

Right click the account in the folder list and select settings. Under copies and folders deselect Place a copy in. and let Hotmail manage it all.

What you have now is fully synchronized with the server. So if you delete something in Thunderbird it will delete on the Hotmail server. Likewise if you delete something on the server you will see it also deleted in Thunderbird. Should you use IMAP on a phone or other device. Changes there will synchronize to all other devices. Very handy, but can have some unexpected results if you don't get the synchronized nature of the beast.
