I want to use Firefox for localized (non english) Mac OS 10.9 and 10.8 .For this I want to add different language packs for firefox.How can I do that?

You can find language packs here:

You can install language packs just you install an extension.

You can set general.useragent.locale to the language code of an installed language pack to select a language or use extension.


You can create a desktop shortcut with the "-UILocale xx-xx" switch appended to the command line to start Firefox with a specific locale.

  • Start > Run: firefox.exe -UILocale en-US

But The solution you provided is specific to windows OS. I have English Mac OS .Now I want to switch the locale to diiferent non english locales for i18n testing of my webbased product. For this i need language packs of Firefox and the procedure to apply those language packs on my Mac machine. Please tell me Mac OS specific procedure for this.

Sorry. I forgot to modify the link for Mac after pasting the URL.

The procedure is the same for all the platforms. You need to install the language pack. If you click the link then Firefox will ask for permission.

Best is to use one of the extensions if you need to switch between languages frequently.
