I have used Firefox as my browser for years. For the past month or so I get a message saying: "Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at my.xfinity.com. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

    (NOTE: THE SITE IS AVAILABLE; I AM ABLE TO CONNECT WITH IE. )

If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.

    (NOTE: MY COMPUTER IS CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET.)

If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy,, make sure that FIrefox is permitted to access the Web."

    (NOTE: FIREFOX IS PERMITTED TO ACCESS THE WEB THROUGH MY FIREWALL.)

What can I do to get Firefox to connect as in the past? If I uninstall and reinstall, will I lose all my bookmarks? Thanks for any help, Cathie

I got in with your link. Try this first;

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

  • Clear the Cache and
  • Remove Cookies
    Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.

  • Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
  • Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.
