When I send photos copied from the internet to this particular Android tablet they cannot be opened if I send them using Thunderbird. The same images can to sent and opened if I send them from my Gmail account. I both cases they receive the email but the image cannot be opened. My friends can open and view all emailed photos with their windows PC. I don't have this problem with other people tablets or my own android tablet. The same problem exists in the same way if they try to open my Thunderbird email with their Android phones.

I don't know enough about the details of how Thunderbird and Gmail handle images in email to know how to change my settings or suggest that my friends change theirs. Can anyone suggest ways to test or cure the problem ?

This started two years ago, I used Thunderbird for all of my email. My photos could always be viewed. Slowly this one set of friends could not receive images that came from my hard drive but it was OK if I copied it from an internet site and pasted it into the email. For a while it was ok if I copied the URL of the image and sent that but finally that too could not be opened. I changed to gmail for my correspondence with my friends and I again could send email from my hard drive but that too stopped working . I have been coping and pasting images from the internet on to a gmail email form and that still works. It sounds a little like I am being selectively blocked somewhere. But through all of this these friends could open and view the images on their windows PC. Than doesn't sound like an internet provider blocking the images. I sounds like it could be the settings on their phones and tablets.

No one seems able to see all of the potential problems and differences between Windows, android, Thunderbird and gmail to see a solution.

I suspect that it has something to do with the way my friends devices are set up. They are not techies so I am pretty sure they are as from the factory or their dealer. I am not sure what to ask them to check or reset.

Is there a fundamental difference between an email from Thunderbird or Gmail on a PC that an Android device could not open.

How do I trouble shoot this? What are the fundamental issues? I have more data than understanding. Help Please.

could you send me some of that data.

1 email that works from Gmail. 1 Email that does not work from Thunderbird.

In both cases save to an EML file. in Thunderbird files > save as. Gmail is a mess. Next to the reply button is a drop down arrow. select that and then the show original from the menu. In the new windows or tab with the original . Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C then open notepad and paste into it and save the file with an EML file extension. Zip both of them and send to devilsgatedrive at gmail dot com. GMail apparently recently started blocking EML attachments, hence the Zip.

I will have a look and compare, so it would be really good if both are sending the same one or two images so I do not get lost in a family reunion.
