I get that message whenever I shut down my computer without closing the browser. This was never a problem before. I would still like to use that feature but only in an actual crash.

It is best to close Firefox via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit) to close Firefox instead of letting Windows closing Firefox. If Windows doesn't give Firefox enough time to close properly then that is likely causing your issue.

You can check in the Windows Task Manager (Processes and Details tab) how long it takes for Firefox to close completely.

But I've been closing Firefox by shutdown for the longest time and it's never been a problem. What's changed since the new update?

It is possible that for some reason the current version takes more time to close.

Also make sure that you aren't using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear any data because that adds to the time closing will take.

Did you check how long it takes for Firefox to close?

Clear history is already unchecked. And I'm confused on checking how long it closes. Is it under analyze wait chain?
