I'm being told that I have to install Chrome to place an order at Walmart. What does Chrome have that Firefox does not?

I've placed many Walmart orders before today using Firefox with no problems. But today, nothing but problems. I've been trying for over 4 hours to get this order to go through. I talked to Walmart's Chat Line and was told I have to install Chrome to place an order. They wouldn't answer when I asked if Walmart owned Chrome.

I've cleared cookies and cache and rebooted but none of that worked. So what does Chrome have that Firefox does not? I've tried Chrome before and hated it and had a heck of a time getting it off my computer. I don't want to go through that again.

I attached a copy of the message I'm getting which seems to indicate that it is a problem within Walmart but I'm told it's with my browser.

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and using Firefox 40.0.3.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for your response. I just figured out the problem.

It started when I tried to pay for my order around 1pm this afternoon. I'm persistent and do not give up easily. Five hours later, I found an error in their programming that allowed me to add an item to my shopping cart that was an In-store purchase Only. But then when I went to pay for it, it became confused and wouldn't let me place the order but would not tell me why.

I solved it by moving all the cart items to Saved for Later and then re-added them one at a time, trying to go to Checkout after each addition. It took a while as there were 20 items. It had the same problem when I added the In-store item back to the Cart and tried to pay for it. So I deleted it and bought it on Ebay.

Now I probably know as much or more than any of their Chat Line people that can only read out of a script book.

It's quite a relief that I don't have to use Chrome. I really like Firefox and would not want to change.

I've been giving this problem more thought and think quite possibly the item, a bottle of isopropyl alcohol, was originally available for online purchase when I put it in my Cart. But I didn't go to Checkout until the next day and during that gap in time, maybe the online stock sold out. I live in Costa Rica and it's illegal to buy isopropyl alcohol here, so I have to buy it online and have it shipped here via a freight forwarder. Isn't that silly? Anyway, I think the last online bottle sold and the program didn't know how to handle the inventory since it said it was instore only. Just my theory, for what it's worth. It's probably something that a lot of programmers would not test for. It just takes an old, well not that old, programmer like me to think of it.  :-) I'll pass my theory on to Walmart, maybe someone will check it out.
