Can I customize the color or border of "today" on the calendar?

On the month or multi-week view, today's date is outlined in red/orange, but it is a little too subtle for me. I'd like to play with tweaking the colors of "today" -- is that possible? In addition to highlighting it, I'd like to tweak the background color for that square on the calendar.

I'm happy to dive under the hood if necessary.
