"ASK " hijacked my homepage which I sorted thanks to advice here. Now everytime I go on the web I get a message asking if I want to revert to my old homepage or stay with the new one. Ihave followed the instructions on here to get rid of it but it won't go ! If Irevert I get the ASK page again so I have to check the box & go with the new one which gives me Mozilla Firefox usual homepage.

Firefox does not have a builtin message to tell you to revert your homepage to a previous one. This sounds like the work of malware installed on your system. Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
