I updated Firefox today and since then it has been unresponsive. I have to use Safari to get to Mozilla, my email, everything. I have restarted my computer and followed the other steps to no avail. Firefox opens and then sits there staring at me. I have downloaded Firefox updates for years and have never had such a problem. I work on a Mac Book Air OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.1 Please help! Remember that I can not work in the Firefox browser at all. It does not respond.

Hello frustrated10  :-)

try to download and install firefox from the next official site, do the next steps:

1. Download a copy of the latest firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html (full dmg package)

2. Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean install.

3. Install the version that you have downloaded.

Do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.

Thank you for your response. I followed your instructions and still came up with a non-responsive Firefox. I always make sure that I'm downloading from the official Mozilla.org site, usually check "about Firefox" for updates. I'm baffled. No time to spend on resolving the problem further now. Will use Safari as default until I can get this figured out after holidays. Thanks for your help.

Did you try the full dmg package from the next link : http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html ? and all the above (in my first link) in the specific order ?

thanks again
