Hi, I keep getting this untrusted connection message. I have tried posted solutions for the "this connection is untrusted" problem Firefox seems to be having. It occurs on any website I try to go into. I have tried changing date and time, running Norton antivirus scans (I have Norton 360 premier installed), change information using about:config setting, uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and deleted "cert8.db" file, but nothing seems to work.

I tried adding images but can't attach them for some unknown reason. I am using internet explorer to send this message since Firefox not working. The error code I keep getting on every website, even on Firefox support websites are (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer) (Error code: sec_error_cert_signature_algorithm_disabled)

What do I do next?

Just an update. Apparently I had a virus on my computer which was not detected. Getting rid of it solved the problem. Thanks for all the help.

I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.

There is security software like Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

This Connection is Untrusted is sometimes caused because the computer system clock is wrong. Check the time / date / time zone settings.

Link 1; Tried resetting connection but it did not do anything Link 2; I selected no proxy, changed DNS, changed IPv6, but still not working link 3; does not apply because I can use internet explorer Link 4, 5 and 6; I have already tried these, deleting cert8.db does not do anything

The computer system clock is correct. It says 1/06/2016. Under the "internet time" tab it states "The clock was successfully synchronized with time.windows.com on 1/06/16 at 3.05 PM"

If you can't inspect the certificate via "I Understand the Risks" then try this:

Open the "Add Security Exception" window by pasting this chrome URL in the Firefox location/address bar and check the certificate:

  • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul

In the location field of this window type or paste the URL of the website.

  • retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
  • click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Viewer

You can inspect details like the issuer and the certificate chain in the Details tab of the Certificate Viewer. Check who is the issuer of the certificate. If necessary then you can attach a screenshot that shows the certificate viewer.

Hi again, tried this for www.hotmail.com since this is one of the website I try to access and not getting into. I attached a screenshot of the certificate.

hello, please download and install firefox 43.0.4 from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ which should fix the issue for the moment. this will be caused by some software on your device which is intercepting secure network traffic - for more details on that please refer to https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2016/01/06/man-in-the-middle-interfering-with-increased-security/
