Clear the cache and remove cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Remove Cookies" from websites that cause problems:

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Are you using bookmarks or shortcuts to go to those sites?

I did exactly what you suggested. Doesn't seem to solve the problem. It only seems to affect salon.com from what I can tell. This is a site I visit frequently and never had any problems it seems until after the 44.0 update on Jan 26th. I first noticed this problem on my iMac but I tried it on my Win7 laptop (connected to my WiFi network) and I have the same problem. Both browsers don't let me visit that page.

It's a bookmark but the problem occurs even if I manually type in the URL.

Ever since the update of V44.0 on Jan-26-16, I cannot visit some web sites as Firefox always reverts back to whatever page I was on before. For example: If I'm on cbcnews.ca and go to salon.com. After the Salon home page loads, it immediate;y revers back to cbcnews.ca. I've rebooted my computer and I still have the same issue. This problem only seesm to affect salon.com. Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?

Yes the problem is still there.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open the Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

On the left side of the page, select Appearance. Then select Default.

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

I tried both of the above suggestions nothing seems to make a difference. One thing that I think is consistent is that if I open a new tab and go to salon.com, it stays on that site. So it seems that it's when you go to that site when you're in an existing tab, Firefox reverts to the page you were on just before.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

I think you're missing the point.

The problem didn't exist in the previous version of FireFox... as soon as I updated, the problem started occurring... It's clearly a bug and obviously needs to be fixed... its not malware, its not a bad plugin, its not a virus, and it's not an ad problem... its a bug.

Since we're having the same problem, does this happen for all sites you visit or just certain ones? Wen you open a new tab, does it stay on the target web site like it does with me? On my end, I've only noticed it when I visit salon.com. I have no issues with other browsers on the same computer, just Firefox and since the last update.

It seems to be only certain ones... I just tested www.salon.com and as soon as it finished loading it reverted back to this page. Does www.cnn.com do it for you ?

It seems to stay on cnn.com but what's strange is that the page is always loading. The circle constantly turns in the tab and in the bottom corner of the browser it says waiting for googleleads.g.doubleckick.net, then Transferring data... Never seems to fully load the entire page. It does this on other sites too.

I ran 2 different malware tests and I'm clean. Something's up with that last release.

Maybe time to go back to Safari...
