Cannot get new messages without restarting thunderbird.
Clicking Get Messages does nothing. I have to restart Thunderbird in order to download new messages - seeing email on other devices, and in GoDaddy web mail work space, so I know there is mail there. On Mac OS 10.11, Thunderbird 38.7.1, IMAP account. I'm seeing posts about this problem on PCs as well. Anyone find a solution??

Did you contact GoDaddy about this? Assuming there is a GoDaddy support forum, check whether other users have the same problem.
What's the interval for how often you check for new mail?

It would appear Godaddy may have actually addressed their issue.
Our analysis is godaddy had/has an issue with their server software not actually delivering the mail it had said was here.
