After I reinstall FF I always have to search how to make FF open the Newt Tab page after startup. I have to search google and write about:newtab in the settings. can you add this option to the dropdown menu? it would also bring more usert to the New Tab page feature, which I appreciate. it is not even contained in your basic support page as a hint in the end or something: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/startup-home-page-tabs-download-settings#w_startup

Hi rispav, Thanks for the question.

I wonder if you may be relatively new to Firefox and still finding your way around. It doe have quite a lot of special features but there is a set of introductory articles
here => /products/firefox/basic-browsing-firefox <= clickable link That page in turn has clickable links to full help articles.

You can set Firefox to always open with a new tab page as its only homepage or one of many them. Homepages are available at any time by clicking on the House icon, even if you open the tabs and Windows from last time. I am not sure why you need to google anything after a restart to solve a regular problem. See also

Please also note keyboard shortcut Ctrl+T opens a new tab or a mouse middle click.

Why not bookmark relevant help articles such as these to make them easy to find

Also note: You may submit feedback directly to the Advocacy team through the following page:

The User Advocacy team reviews feedback and reports on the findings to the product teams and relevant parties, helping to influence and shape our products.

Please post back to say whether this helped or if you still have problems. You may need to explain in more detail what does or does not happen, and what you expect to happen.

hello, my post was not a question, but a suggestion. there is always several ways how to do something, but there can still be easier ways, that are not possible. My suggestion was to add a new option "about:newtab" to the dropdown menu. This menu already allows user to influence what should FF display after startup. The option "New Tab Page", meaning "about:newtab" is missing to make the choice complete. I do not have any problem I need to solve, just suggesting a comfortable feature

There is already is one specific option in the settings you are discussing to open with a blank page.

I think you may have missed the options behind one of the arrows.

  • When Firefox starts: [..... v]
As explained in Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings_startup
When Firefox starts: Controls what Firefox displays when you open it.
  • Show my home page - Displays the home page, which is set below.
  • Show a blank page - Displays a blank page, which is fastest to load.
  • Show my windows and tabs from last time - Restores the pages you were visiting the last time you closed Firefox.
