Who asked for "corrspondents" and why is it now the default.
I was really happy with "From" and "Recipients" especially knowing whether I "reply" or "reply" all. now there is "Correspondents" which is stupidly the new default and keeps coming back in V45.
I have 4+ pc's each with 8 email accounts running under T-Bird and is sucks having to change each account back to the way it was.

I sympathise with you. I happen to like the Correspondents column and before this change, I was using an addon to achieve the same effect. But to impose such a change on everybody by default seems to me to be wrong.
Occasionally the developers put through a change because it will be needed for some future development, but if they make it optional, normal human inertia means it will be left switched off. However I can't see and don't know of any justification in this case.

While I was in the same camp as you when the feature first appeared in daily and I slavishly changed folders back to what I was used to. I not find after a few months of using it that it becomes the new normal I now neither like nor dislike it.... but I do not like it in my sent folder.
You can add To and From columns back to the list, per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/message-list-columns
Or set the hidden preference mailnews.ui.upgrade.correspondents to false
