Thanks for any help. A friend's email was hacked. She has changed the password. The only damage she has found so far has been that emails were sent to people in her contact list. Along with the other things she is doing, does she also need to change her email address and get her an entirely new email account? Also, she was concerned about asking the question herself as she isn't sure if she would pass any virus to others. Do you know if she is right not to use the forum since this happened to her email? Does she need to change her email account/address?

I apologize if this isn't an appropriate question for this forum. Thanks.

Some spammers use real e-mail addresses to cover the origin of their spams. If there is no more trouble, she is okay. But if the account gets spammed again, best to create another account. Then close the original AFTER alerting everyone in her address book, websites, Utilities, and so on.
