I have just been reading the thread on Firefox 45 not installing. 45 & 46 will not install on my new iMac and the problems are the same as PaulaRust's. Firefox installs perfectly on my 7½ year old iMac so I just don't understand what the problem is.

I then tried to click that I had the same problem but that didn't work. Was that because I had not yet created an account?

Hello SunArch, did you try download and install or to update your new Mac with the new firefox ?

If you have firefox and you can not update then try the next steps :

1. Download a copy of the latest firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html (full dmg package)

2. Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean install.

3. Install the version that you have downloaded.

Do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.

thank you

Thank you for your reply, Ideato.

I tried the trash and clean install procedure with V45 but with the same negative result. There must be some conflict with the software of my new iMac. Today I upgraded my old iMac to 46.0.1 and there was a problem in that two copies of Firefox were open after the upgrade and restart and neither would close on force quit. I then switched the power off, waited a while and powered the machine up again. Firefox then worked perfectly. It's all a mystery!
