Got infected with upper-search search engine. Not been able to find or remove it so removed firefox then re-installed latest version. Upper search still there. Is this a firefox engine because it seems only to infect firefox? Other browsers such as chrome and avast safe zone are ok. Please help! I want firefox back but am told that upper search is malware and steals info from your browsing.

hi, this is not related to firefox in any way, but sounds like adware/malware on your device, so please proceed like this:

  1. refresh firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
  2. afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
  3. also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted/unknown software from there.
  4. finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.
