I would like to request that Thunderbird folk change the Delete shortcut key to something other than the Delete button, maybe use the tried and true Ctrl+D used by almost all other programs and applications.

The reason: the delete key on my laptop is in the top right corner of the keyboard (on some keyboards it's on the keypad to right of keyboard), which means that if you want to use it you have to let go of the mouse to get to it, or you have to reach all the way across the keyboard with your left hand to use. A very inefficient "shortcut" if you ask me.

Regards, David.

It's possible to add the Ctrl+D shortcut with keyconfig:

1. open the Dorando keyconfig Options in Tools/Add-ons/Extensions 2. click 'Add a new key' 3. name it e.g. 'Del message' and replace /*CODE/* with goDoCommand("cmd_delete"); 4. click OK 5. select the new shortcut and click in the box next to the Apply button (it should show 'Disabled') 6. Enter the keyboard comb. i.e. Ctrl+D 7. Click Apply, Close Options, restart TB

Tested and working in TB 48.

I have no idea how to do what you are proposing. First, there is no "add-ons" or "extensions" menu options under the Tools menu, so I can't even begin to do what you ask.

Besides that, it seems like you're asking that I do a form of coding, writing such things as:

goDoCommand("cmd_delete"); I have no idea what you are talking about.

Seems that I might have to resort to Outlook for ease of use.
