Thought I would report on 47. I have reverted to 46.0.1

1. The option for "Don’t load tabs until selected" is gone and it seems like the default is checked. I am not fond pf that choice. 2. Three plugins broken (might be two)

Extended Status Bar and/or Status 4 evar: At least one not working and a lot of status bar goodies missing now. I did not take the time to see which it was or if both. They are back working ion 46.0.1

Bookmark Replace - Stopped working. Needed to revert when I reverted to 46.0.1

Been a while since an update borke things. It did thisd time. I shall stay with 46 until I have confidence those plugins will work with 47.

Very curious if others find the "Don’t load tabs until selected" setting missing as well. Did it get moved?

The "Don't load tabs until selected" setting was removed in Firefox 47+ to prevent performance issues with restoring all tabs automatically with multi-process enabled.

  • bug 1257554 - [e10s] Remove restore on demand checkbox

You can still toggle the prefs on the about:config page if you are willing to accept possible performance issues.

browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand
browser.sessionstore.restore_pinned_tabs_on_demand (pinned tabs)

I look at the changes before updating Firefox and did not see this. I would not have updated, most likely. I think it was foolish to remove the option.

What has changed that required this be removed? I have not only had not issues with this, but appreciated the functionality.

OK, the change to about:config worked and all plugins now updated by authros so we are working. I do think that should have remained a preference.

Any other surprises I have not found?

I'll mark the answer by cor-el as the solution. For other Firefox 47 users who un-checked the "don't load tabs until selected" checkbox in the past, see the article Allow Firefox to load multiple tabs in the background for detailed instructions.

I'm having problems with bookmarks, right click and you can not open in new tab or new window,it's as if the options have been disabled in FF 47.

See Mozilla Support rules and guidelines under "Posting support requests". Please ask a new question since this one is solved. I'll close this thread.
