If you view YouTube videos giving instructions on how to delete Mozilla Firefox from Windows 7, it clearly shows an "uninstall wizard." I have installed and uninstalled many programs on my computer, and they all came with an uninstall wizard. The primary reason I want to delete Firefox is due to the inability to copy URLs which I use quite often in my advocacy work.

Now a box appears with the following message:

"Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? Program Name: Uninstall or Change Application Verified Publisher: Microsoft Windows"

I'm afraid if I allow this, it sounds like it might wipe out my hard drive. I called your Technical Support Department, and apparently you have now have to PAY A FEE to have Firefox uninstalled from your computer. If this is the case, I will have pay my local computer specialist to delete it; because I certainly will not pay Firefox to delete it. In addition, if this is the case, you should CLEARLY WARN USERS THAT IF THEY DOWNLOAD FIREFOX, THEY WILL BE ASSESSED A FEE TO DELETE IT.

Mozilla doesn't have a "Technical Support Department" - you found a "poser". This forum is the only official Firefox support avenue; nothing else is provided my Mozilla directly.

Here is the KB article about uninstalling Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer

I'm going off-line, so if you need additional help it might be a few hours before other support contributors are available. It's 3 am in my time zone - CDT.

The desktop Firefox from www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ is 100% FREE to download, install, use, and uninstall whether on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.

Mozilla does not have the resources to have any one on one tech support call centers whether by phone, chat or email since it would be for free. They do not work with any third-party support services. Mozilla does not charge for any support.

What site did you come across that claimed to work for or with Mozilla in Firefox support and chargingfor said support?. They may be violating one or more things mentioned in https://www.mozilla.org/about/legal/fraud-report/

Well actually besides this official support.mozilla.org forum there is also irc.mozilla.org and the Mozilla newsgroups.

It should be easy to copy URLs in Firefox, or for that matter any browser.

I suggest you do a clean install of Firefox making sure that you are using an official copy from Mozilla. Also once reinstalled and working ensure you only update Firefox using its menu and not on anything popping up on the internet. (Especially ones with orange screens and official looking Firefox logos)

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.

To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu New Fx Menu and click the close button Close 29).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. Please report back to say if this helped you!

Thank you.
