I scanned a page on my HP Photosmart 7525 and attached it to a Thunderbird e-mail and sent it. When I went to my sent file to view it the attachment was embedded in the e-mail (it also showed as an attachment) but it was at about 200% size. How can I get it to normal size. The recipient said it was normal size when they opened it in the e-mail. Help???

Windows displays images at 96DPI. you probably scanned is at 3200dpi or more. Simple maths says your image will appear huge without scaling.

On the toolbar > View > attachments inline.

Now you will not see the attachments unless you open them explicitly.

Thank you Matt--that was exactly the problem. I scanned it at 300DPI and when I changed the setting to 100DPI it is the right size. And unclicking the "attachments inline" is a good thing to know. Thanks very much.

Keep in mind that 96dpi is fine for screen use but a minimum of 300 is required for printing and preferably 3 or 4 times that. Unfortunately there is no "one size fits all".
