Is the latest Firefox compatible with Mac OS 10.6.8?
I have a 2007 iMac running OS 10.6.8, it appears from searching the Firefox website that Firefox is no longer compatable with this OS. Of late beach balls have crippled the computer to the point where the only option is to restart. When this happens it is always when I am either using Firefox or it is open while I am using Quicken. Safari and Chrome are not compatable either. I have concluded that the beachballs have something to do with firefox. I would like to find out what my options are either in fixing firefox or perhaps another brouser of which i am unaware that might be compatable. Note:I have tested my hard drive with 2 different programs and it appearas to be fine. I have reset Safari and it seems fine for a while than have problems again

Firefox 48 is the last Release to run on the old Mac OSX 10.6, 10.7, 10.8
Firefox 49.0 being released next Tuesday will require OSX 10.9 or newer
The only way to continue getting security update for Firefox is by switching to Firefox 45.0 ESR as Firefox 48 will be EOL when Firefox 49.0 is released.
ESR channel builds generally get eight updates as 45.8.0 esr will be out when Firefox 53.0 is released. The 45.8.0 esr will then be the last unless Mozilla extends support to help Mac OSX 10.6, 10.7, 10.8 users for a while longer.
Firefox 45.0 ESR is basically the Firefox 45.0 release but supported with security updates since.
See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-osx on your options.
The Firefox 48.0 System Requirements page is incorrect for Mac part as 48.0 has the same requirements as 47.0.

The Mac OS X 10.9 minimum is correct on this Firefox 49.0 beta page. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/49.0beta/system-requirements/
