Is the auto-update trying to download a real version?
I'm getting a notification inside the Firefox app saying there is a new verison 49.0.1.
However, I can't determine if this is real for a couple of reasons:
1. The update window has a link to the release notes for this release, but it is not a valid link (404) 2. I don't see version 49.0.1 in the official list of releases https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases/ 3. The latest release from the Firefox main page downloads 49.0 https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
I wanted to make sure I'm getting a legitimate release before downloading. Can anyone confirm 49.0.1 is real?

For the last four months, an epidemic of Fake Update Notices have been popping up all over the place.
You are very wise to ask.
Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar. Then Help > About Firefox will tell you what version have and check for updates.
hi djfitz, version 49.0.1 is a real version which we are rolling out since ~1 hour now. it will show up at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases/ very soon.
Hello djfitz, 49.0.1 is an official version released by mozilla. My browser was updated and it works fine.
