How can I restore bookmarks and get them to save on firefox?

bookmarks all disappeared. trying to save new bookmarks and firefox wont save them.

tried restore from backup....shows 43 BM. only 9 show up and aren't saved.

Make sure you are not using Firefox Privacy mode. Nothing is recorded.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?
