Messages are being deleted after read; star symbol disappeared
Messages are disappearing from inbox list. When I search for them, I can find them, but they do not appear in the inbox.
All stars are suddenly gone from all previously starred emails

Are you finding those messages in the junk/spam folder?
Do you have any Message Filters? Thunderbird menu: Tools: Message Filters Support Article: Organize Your Messages by Using Filters
