I often have redirected links to offensive sites. I installed Bitdefender but it hasn't eliminated the problem. Any advice?

I will be browsing a site that I use often. When I click a link I will be redirected to an unrelated site. Sometimes it is a gaming site, Sometimes a porn site. A few times it was a site with an alarm that I was being watch and tracked and should use a link to correct the problem. Sometimes I can use the "Back" button to return to my previous site, sometimes I have to close the tab and start again.

My bookmarks always work correctly. Some sites never have this problem. Others have it occur from their sites 30%-40% of the time.

hello, could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

Redirect Control 0.1.2 This add-on enables the user to allow or deny redirects from web pages. You can also create rules to allow redirects that you approve of.

If the redirect is to a page you don't want, this will stop it. Just close that tab and start over.

Those redirects, does this happen on most websites, many, some?

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
