Since FireFox updated itself to 51.0.1 last week I've been getting frequent blue screen crashes with my system rebooting itself, the majority of which occur while reading or replying to emails. Sometimes I'm lucky to finish typing a sentence before a blue screen crash occurs. I've turned off the automatic updates (opting for the "prompt me when updates are available" option. That won't fix the blue screen crashes though. I need to roll Firefox to the previous version to 51.0.1. BTW, I've checked my hard drive with Norton Utilities checkdisk which found and corrected several disk errors. I also de-fragmented my boot drive which was 34% fragmented (obviously I hadn't defragged it in a really long time!). Unfortunately the blue screen message takes up the full screen and flashes past so quickly I don't have time to read it before it vanishes and my system reboots. Since this only occurs while I'm using Firefox, and only started with 51.0.1 the problem almost certainly is being caused by this latest version of Firefox. My guess is that it contains "stuff" in it that isn't compatible with the version of Windows I am using which is why I need to roll back to the previous version.

First, try this;

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Install an older version of Firefox {web link} Be sure to read everything here.

If you still want to downgrade, look under "I still want to downgrade" Click the Directory of other versions and languages link Look for the directory of the version that you want. But remember that old versions may have security issues.
