restore address sidebar
after posting a new address my address/contact sidebar does not appear when I want to write a letter. how can it be restored? Thanks.

Turn it on again. It is called the Contacts Sidebar.
It can be found in the composition window's Menu Bar, and in the composition window Toolbar, and the F9 key will toggle it on and off.
If you don't have a menu in that window, I suggest you turn it on. IMHO you need that menu. F10 or alt will make it appear and then View|Toolbars allows you to tick a checkbox to make it permanent. You can enable the Toolbar in the same place, if that too is invisible, and you can customize the toolbar (right click it) if it doesn't already have the Contacts Toolbar/Address Book button.
